Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Assal is an Egyptian native Arabic speaker and a graduate of the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, where he completed all programs with exceptional academic excellence and achieved top rankings.
He earned an Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the narration of Ḥafṣ over a two-year period, graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first. He later completed the Advanced Qirāʾāt Program (Ten Qirāʾāt Ijāzah) over three years, also graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first.
Shaykh Mahmoud holds numerous Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016), all granted by Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. He also holds Ijāzāt in the classical Tajwīd texts Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah from prominent contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, he has taught Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at several leading Qur’anic centers. His background includes teaching non-Arabic speakers online in English, in addition to teaching at major Qur’anic institutes in Alexandria.
Since 2019, Shaykh Mahmoud has served as the Director and Co-Founder of Shaykhi Academy and continues his role as a Senior Instructor. His teaching focuses on advanced Tajwīd, Ijāzah and Qirāʾāt programs, Qur’an memorization, and Qur’an and Arabic reading courses.
