The Arabic Learning Centre’s instructors employ a phonics-based methodology combined with sight-word recognition techniques, ensuring learners develop both analytical decoding skills and automatic word recognition. The Arabic Learning Centre’s curriculum integrates controlled reading passages that reinforce newly acquired letter-sound correspondences while gradually introducing authentic textual materials from classical and modern sources.
The Arabic Learning Centre’s instructors structure lessons around progressive skill acquisition, beginning with isolated letter forms and advancing systematically toward fluent connected-text processing.
Students learn all twenty-eight Arabic letters in their isolated, initial, medial, and final forms through systematic presentation and repetition exercises. The Arabic Learning Centre’s curriculum emphasizes the visual distinctions between similar letter shapes and teaches diagnostic features that enable rapid, accurate identification during reading tasks.
This module addresses short vowels (fatha, kasra, damma), long vowels (alif, waw, yaa), sukoon, shadda, and tanween through explicit instruction and controlled practice. The Arabic Learning Centre’s lessons include focused exercises on distinguishing between similar-looking word patterns and recognizing high-frequency function words that facilitate reading fluency and comprehension.
Learners progress through carefully leveled reading passages that reinforce decoding skills while introducing authentic Arabic sentence structures, vocabulary, and discourse patterns. The Arabic Learning Centre’s instructors provide guided reading sessions, prosody training, and comprehension checks to ensure students develop both accuracy and automaticity in Arabic reading.
Outcomes
Graduates read fully vowelized Arabic texts accurately, applying phonetic rules and letter-sound correspondences without requiring Romanized transliteration aids or external decoding assistance. Their Arabic reading competence extends to recognizing word patterns, processing diacritical marks systematically, and producing accurate phonetic renderings of unfamiliar vocabulary within appropriate linguistic contexts.
Students identify all Arabic letters instantly regardless of their position within words, distinguishing between visually similar characters through diagnostic feature analysis. This Arabic script recognition competency enables rapid visual processing during reading tasks and eliminates hesitation caused by positional variations or contextual letter shapes.
Learners infer missing short vowels in partially vowelized materials by applying Arabic morphological patterns, contextual clues, and grammatical knowledge acquired throughout the course. Their Arabic reading skills include recognizing root-pattern relationships, predicting likely vowel sequences, and confirming interpretations through semantic and syntactic coherence checks within connected discourse.
Graduates comprehend straightforward Arabic prose from news reports, educational materials, and narrative texts, extracting main ideas, identifying supporting details, and following chronological sequences. Their Arabic textual comprehension demonstrates the integration of decoding skills with vocabulary knowledge, enabling them to process authentic written materials independently for information and learning purposes.
Students read aloud with appropriate pacing, pausing at natural phrase boundaries, and applying basic Arabic intonation patterns that reflect sentence types and punctuation cues. This Arabic reading fluency indicates the transition from effortful decoding to automatic word recognition, allowing cognitive resources to focus on comprehension and meaning construction rather than letter-by-letter processing.

Testimonials
The Arabic Learning Centre's graduates have applied their Arabic reading skills to pursue graduate studies, access heritage materials, and advance professional careers requiring Arabic literacy.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!

Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a class at Shaykhi Academy with Mr. Luqman, and I had a lot of fun learning with him. I even got the chance to meet him in Egypt! I learned a lot from my time with him, including Tajweed, Tahweed, Arabic reading, and Quran. I've been learning with him for about a year now. Thank you for your time.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
